IBEW PER CAPITA DUES INCREASE FOR “A” MEMBERS
As a reminder basic dues for “A” members have increased by $2.00 effective January 2025 in accordance with Article IX of the IBEW Constitution. Please be sure that if you pay dues in advance or are on automatic deductions through your personal bank you make the adjustments for the increase.
SOUND & COMMUNICATION’S MARCH 1, 2025, ALLOCATION
A notice was mailed out to all Active S&C members in early January regarding the upcoming previously negotiated $3.75 increase which will go into effect March 1, 2025. A discussion was held at the regularly scheduled S&C meeting on January 28th, and we would like to thank all those in attendance for their input and involvement.
INSIDE WIREMAN’S FEBRUARY 1, 2025, PENSION INCREASE
There has been an increase to pension effective 2-1-2025. This was previously agreed upon in our negotiations when the 5-year agreement was ratified. You may find updated sheets on our website by clicking the Member Resources tab, then selecting Bylaws & Agreements dropdown option which will take you to the web page to view all current wages and agreements for all classifications.
END OF THE YEAR STATEMENTS
The year end statements for basic and working dues are available online. You may visit our website IBEW Local 340 and log into your account (please note if you have not logged in prior there is “Tips box” for first time users). Once logged in, the statements can be found under the Dues tab (a dropdown menu will appear) then select 2024 Tax Statement.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION
Thank you to all those who attended our January class. These classes are always informative and the participation that brings up Q&A’s is a huge help to other new members. If you were not able to attend this class our next scheduled orientation will be April 15th. A reschedule letter will be sent to those who were not able to attend this class. We encourage you to bring your spouse or significant other as this is a great opportunity for any questions you may have regarding your union membership and understanding the local union.
SPORTSMANS CLUB NEWS:
DOG TRAINING EVENT – This annual event will be held at 8:00 AM on Sunday February 23rd at Quail Point Hunt Club, 29625 County Rd 14 in Esparto. This fun event is open to all active and retired members and their children who are interested. The cost is $165 per shooter for 5 birds and lunch. The Club will pay for all bird cleaning fees. ANNUAL RENEW CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
The RENEW group will host their annual Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, March 29th at 2 PM here at the Union Hall. More details to follow in the coming months.

IBEW Local 340 Harry R. Bain Scholarship Award –For Dependents
IBEW Local 340 is once again going to award two college scholarships in 2025 ($1,000.00 and $500.00). These scholarships are available to sons, grandsons, daughters, granddaughters or legal dependents of members of Local 340. The General Rules and Instructions, as well as the application, can be picked up from the Sacramento Business Office or the Redding Office. You can also call either of these offices to request they be mailed to you. Please note: the completed application must be received in the Sacramento Business Office by March 14, 2025 to be considered.
IBEW Founders Scholarship – For all IBEW members (not dependents)
The IBEW Founders’ Scholarship honors the dedicated wiremen and linemen who organized the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on November 28, 1981. Each year the officers of the IBEW are pleased to offer its working members scholarships on a competitive basis. It is hoped that the awards will not only contribute to the personal development of our members but also steward the electrical industry that our founders envisioned. The award is for $200 per semester credit hour at any accredited college or university toward an associate’s, bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in an approved field. The maximum distribution is $24,000 per person over a period not to exceed eight years.
Any member interested in applying for the IBEW Founders Scholarship can do so by going on-line at www.ibew.org. Click on “Resources and Links” at the top, scroll down to the box labeled “Founders Scholarship”. You will receive information on this scholarship as well as be able to download the application. These applications can also be picked up at the Business Office. This scholarship is for any member who has been in continuous good standing and paid dues (without an Honorary Withdrawal for the four years prior to May 1, 2025). This is not a scholarship for your dependents. All applications and required information must be mailed directly to the IBEW in Washington, DC and must be postmarked May 1, 2025.
REST IN PEACE
Active Brother Michael Hecox passed on 1/14/24. He was a 16-year member and 54 years of age.
Retired Brother Dinu Morar passed on 11/5/24. He was a 16-year member and 74 years of age.
Retired Brother Gary McDowell passed on 1/23/25. He was a 68 year member and 86 years of age.
Our thoughts and prayers are with these member’s family during this difficult time.
