APRIL 2026

INSIDE WIREMAN NEGOTIATIONS

While we are still in the early stages of negotiations, we still encourage members to send in any surveys they have not been able to complete. We look forward to serving our membership and keeping the best of your interest at hand when entering these meetings.

HARRY BAIN SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

We would like to congratulate this year’s winners for our Harry Bain Scholarship. First place has been awarded to Holly Bain and Second place to Elizabeth Campiz. These two winners have been invited to share and read their winning essays at our May meeting. We hope to see both along with their family to celebrate their scholarship.

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION

At the time of distribution of this newsletter, we would have held our April meeting. If you were unable to attend, we will be rescheduling you for our next class in July. Notices will be both mailed and emailed a week prior to the scheduled class. We encourage our members to bring their spouses as this class provides a lot of information about the union.

WOMEN’S COMMITTEE – HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

The Women’s Committee showed up once again for the Community in the 2026 Habitat for Humanity Women Build. On March 21st were able to sponsor a team of our very own and assist in helping build affordable housing for families in a local neighborhood. I would like to give a big thank you to Michelle Stoffel, Erin Gibbens, Camille Woodard, Mary Vincent, and Stefanie Crockett.

RENEW’S ANNUAL CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

The RENEW committee recently held their Annual Cornhole Tournament. It was filled with fun, family and Brotherhood. Congratulations to the winning teams:

1st – Craig Canepa and Collin Moreno

2nd – Victor Garcia and Shelly Garcia

3rd – Benjamin Huff and Jermaine Galang

On behalf of RENEW, thank you for your support and to the sponsors who contributed to the raffle prizes and covered fees for apprentices that helped make this event possible.

SCHOLARSHIP

IBEW Founders Scholarship – For all IBEW members (not dependents)

The IBEW Founders’ Scholarship honors the dedicated wiremen and linemen who organized the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on November 28, 1981. Each year the officers of the IBEW are pleased to offer its working members scholarships on a competitive basis. It is hoped that the awards will not only contribute to the personal development of our members but also steward the electrical industry that our founders envisioned. The award is for $200 per semester credit hour at any accredited college or university toward an associate’s, bachelors or postgraduate degree in an approved field. The maximum distribution is $24,000 per person over a period not to exceed eight years.

Any member interested in applying for the IBEW Founders Scholarship can do so by going on-line at www.ibew.org. Click on “Resources and Links” at the top, scroll down to the box labeled “Founders Scholarship”. You will receive information on this scholarship as well as be able to download the application.  These applications can also be picked up at the Business Office.  This scholarship is for any member who has been in continuous good standing and paid dues (without an Honorary Withdrawal for the four years prior to May 1, 2026). This is not a scholarship for your dependents.  All applications and required information must be mailed directly to the IBEW in Washington, DC and must be postmarked May 1, 2026.
